FAQ

What time does camp start? Arrive at camp between 3:00-5:00pm on Monday for full weeks of camp and Girls Arts Mini-Week. Family Adventure Camp and LIT Reuniting and Reigniting check-in time is between 9:00-11:00am.

What time does camp end? During full weeks of camp and Girls Arts Mini-Week, campers must be picked up by 11:30 am, but we invite all parents and leaders to join us for the closing program in Hunt Hall Auditorium which begins at 10:30am on the final day. Family Adventure Camp and LIT R&R will conclude at 12:30pm. Closing program will begin at 11:45am on the final day of these camps.

Can my camper room with her friend? We try to honor roommate requests submitted during the registration process as closely as possible. We can put up to three campers from the same church or family together. Requests to house four or more friends together in one cabin will not be honored. We have learned from many years of experience that campers benefit from meeting new people and making new friends. If two campers of different ages request to room together, the pair is usually placed in a cabin according to the age of the youngest camper. On High Adventure Weeks, campers must sign up for the same cabin to be able to room together.

How do I get to CrossRoads? CrossRoads is located in Lowesville, Virginia which is in Amherst County. We are between Lynchburg and Charlottesville off of Route 29. Click here to download directions. Please do not attempt to use MapQuest or other Internet direction services. These websites often provide incorrect directions to CrossRoads. If you need further assistance with directions, call our office at 434.277.8465.

How far are you from ________? Travel time from Lynchburg or Charlottesville is approximately one hour. We are about 1 ½ hours from Roanoke and 2 ½ hours from Richmond.

Does my camper need to have finished fourth grade? To be eligible to attend camp alone, campers must have finished fourth grade OR be at least 10 years old by June 1 st. Absolutely no exceptions to this policy will be granted. Younger campers are welcome to attend CrossRoads with a parent or parent substitute during one of our Family Adventure Camps.

How much money do I send with my camper? Campers will be able to donate to the camp missions offering in support of an international ministry. Campers also have an opportunity to visit the canteen (camp store) Tuesday through Friday. Most chips are $.50, most candies are $.75, most ice cream treats are $1.00, and most bottled drinks are $1.00. Gifts range from about $1.00 to $10.00. $20 is plenty to send for most campers. All money will be turned in to the camp bank at check-in. The campers will be able to “debit” money from their account each day. Unspent money will be returned to the camper on the last day of camp.
