HorsePower

This unique program combines leadership training with horse handling skills. Campers complete various challenges with the horses and finish the week with an opportunity to ride.

On Tuesday, HorsePower campers will learn about horses and complete team building exercises such as the Challenge Course. An experienced horse handler will bring 5-6 horses to CrossRoads for Wednesday through Friday of the High Adventure Week. A corral is set up in the large field where HorsePower activities will take place. On Wednesday and Thursday, campers complete individual and group tasks that help them to feel comfortable around the horses and teach them principles of leadership. Campers are encouraged by the counselors each day to relate their experiences with the horses to their own spiritual life. By Friday, campers will have an opportunity to ride the horses within the corral.

Campers need to bring tennis shoes and at least one pair of pants. No experience or other special equipment is needed. This program is designed to be a basic introduction to working with horses.
